![]() Do You Spend Time at the Computer?
I bet you do! Here are some helpful tips to support your well being in the computer age. 1) Use a wrist support that elevates the bottom of your wrists at least above the level of the front of the keyboard (or sink your monitor below the level of the desk). 2) Have the center of your monitor four inches below the level of your eyes. 3) Keep your mouse close enough to you that your elbow stays close to your waist (instead of having your elbow in front of your torso). 3) Use a chair with arm rests. This allows your shoulders to relax. 4) Use a device either on your person or on your monitor that neutralizes the negative impact of the E/M field surrounding your computer. 5) Take breaks every 40-50 minutes. Get up, walk around, get some fresh air and water, take a few deep breaths, and look at something far away. This can be helpful even if you only have a couple of minutes.
